juice because…

“Juice for the taste of it, Diet Juice!”

Songs like that can often be heard at our house while we prep the veggies for the juicer. It was a slightly over a year ago that I made (what I thought at the time to be) a splurge purchase at Costco. Having watched multiple cleanses happen at my local studio, it was time to get my feet wet.

Here are my favorite juice recipes:

Green Drank

  • 4 leaves kale
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 1/2 bunch cilantro
  • 1/2 bunch parsley
  • 1 Fuji apple

What started as Kale Apple juice has modified to this variation. I have made it for timid friends to their delight, and try to get one Green Drank in a day. Kale is chalk full of micronutrients, and is made more subtle by the addition of apple. I add cilantro and parsley, which both act as natural internal deoderizers for the body and help remove heavy metals from your blood stream.

Carrot Orange

  • 4 carrots
  • 1 large orange

This is a great way to up your immunity with Vitamin C, and carrots help improve complexion.

Watermelon Strawberry

  • 2 slices watermelon
  • 1 handful strawberries
  • 1 handful mint

A friend of mine was weary of the juicing of watermelon, as it is super juicy just eating. But to watch the pink waterfall from the juicer is a whole other experience. Super fresh in the summertime, this drink is magical to the tastebuds. Many juicers opt to not mix melons with other fruit and veggies, in fear of a bloated stomach, so be mindful when doing this combo. If it doesn’t agree with you, skip the strawberries or mint. I have not had any problems and absolutely love the flavor.
